And the melee feels even worse than it did before. It also bothers my eyes with the amount of blur that some animations have. I just cannot have fun with the changes in this version. I won't play on anything higher than the 3rd difficulty, so the addition of recoil is an awful thing for me. I'm not a god at classic doom, I get stuck on environmental things constantly and no matter how much I try to strafe I still end up getting shot at and dying. Like, when is the harpoon even useful in the first place? It's slow and doesn't do much at all. Sure it shoots something different, but it's technically not unique and didn't deserve to be changed into its own gun entirely. I think the corpses from the nailgun is disturbing and creepy which is a big reason for me not to like it, on top of it honestly not being any different from any other gun, it just shoots nails. I really like that gun's whole idea and I sorta wish it was in the real doom games. Is that the semi-automatic plasma rifle? Because if I'm not mistaken, it does have recoil, but very little. There should be an option in the menu to allow players to restore it the gun to its original function, there's no reason why not. It's a cosmetic change more than anything, and the corpses left behind the gun are incredibly disturbing and put me off from wanting to use the gun at all. Bringing this up is an incredibly weak argument for its removal as well, considering its transformation into the Nailgun still keeps it identical to the same thing that was it, but now it shoots nails. Like I said before, it had its own purpose to serve differently from the Carbine and Minigun.And even though it's not the end of the world like I make it sound, it still has some of the worst gun recoil I've seen on guns. I noticed I have overreacted a bit, it's not as terrible as I make it sound, but it's still so incredibly annoying.
